Eric Moore
General Manager and Partner
 

Eric, general manager and partner of Solaris Feeders, was raised in Colorado and came to Montana State University to study Animal Science and Ag. Business. After college he spent three years in Kansas working for a large cattle feeding company. He moved to Miles City and became associated with Solaris Feeders in 1997.  Eric and his wife Lea have two children, Maci and Andy.  Eric also serves on the board of directors of the Montana Beef Council, a local bank, and as the president of the Montana Cattle Feeders’ Association.

William Krutzfeldt
Partner

 

William is a licensed attorney, and was in private practice for more than 30 years.  Also a partner at Solaris Feeders, he is now focused on developing an ethanol plant in the Miles City area through his Montana Feed and Fuel project.  A Montana native, William  has been a farmer and rancher in Custer County for 30 years. He is a graduate of Montana State University with a degree in Agricultural business and a degree in law from the University of Montana.

 

 

 

 

 

R. W. “Butch” Whitman, Ph.D., PAS, Nutrition Consultant

 

Butch was raised on a commercial cow-calf ranch in Colorado and received his Ph.D. in animal science from Colorado State University. Prior to being a consulting nutritionist, he served on the Animal Science faculty Text Box:  
at Montana State University teaching and conducting research and was later director of research and education for the American Simmental Association.  He has served as consulting nutritionist for MoorMan’s, ADM Alliance Nutrition, and Westfeeds.  In addition to consulting, he presently serves as chief executive officer of Westfeeds, a locally owned and operated feed company serving livestock producers in Montana and northern Wyoming.

Scott McGregor, D.V.M.,
Veterinary Consultant

 

Scott received a B.S. from Colorado State University, M.S. University of Michigan and D.V.M. from Colorado State University. He owns a livestock consulting service in Jerome, Idaho providing health management and record keeping services to livestock operations throughout the United States. He performs research on livestock antibiotics, vaccines and implants.

 

 

 

 

 

Kelly Buffington
Ranch Manager

Kelly was born and raised on the family ranch near Jordan, Montana. He brings a lifetime of experience in cow calf and stocker  production, range management, and dry land farming. At Solaris, Kelly  oversees operations on the ranches as well as the summer grass leases.

Jim Willson
Farm Manager

Jim is another eastern Montana native who has worked on farms and ranches throughout this area as well as in western Montana. Jim is in charge of over 850 irrigated acres of farming as well as the over the road trucking operations. During the winter, Jim oversees operations in the Kinsey feedlot.

Lisa Watson
Office Manager

 Lisa is a Certified Public Accountant and provides accounting and project management services to Solaris Feeders. She was raised in Colorado and received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado- Boulder. She relocated to Florida where she worked for a Fortune 500 company. While in Florida she received her MBA from the University of Miami. She lives in Miles City with her husband Thomas who is also a CPA.

Sandra Barclay
Accountant/Bookkeeper

Sandra earned her B.S. in Accounting from Dickinson State University. A native of eastern Montana, she was raised in a family involved in ranching and cattle buying. Sandra is responsible for the daily bookkeeping and office functions. She is active in her church and continuing professional education.

 

 

Don Anderson, M.S., PAS,
Professor Emeritus Montana State Univ.
Special projects consultant           

 
Don was raised on a cattle and sheep ranch near Melville, Montana.  He graduated from Montana State University in Animal science with B.S. and M.S. degrees.  After working three years at Fort Keogh Livestock and Range Research Laboratory he moved to Havre, Montana to lead the beef cattle research program at the Northern Agricultural Research Center for 35 years. He has extensive experience and knowledge in all phases of beef cattle management and production from conception to consumer, range management, ranch and livestock records, and data collection and analysis.
